Roger grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1957. He got his AA in Electrical Engineering at the University of New Mexico in 1960. From there he joined the US Navy. He was a former “R” division LPO on the USS Theodore E. Chandler from 1962- 1964. Prior to that he was on the USS Midway from 1957-1960. After his active Navy time he stayed in the Naval Reserves, and went to work for Pacific Bell. He remained working in telecommunications until he retired in 1996, staying with Pacific Bell as they changed hands over the years. He married Patricia (Bare) Arnold on August 28th, 1965 and had three children.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth and Kippy Arnold. Surviving in addition to his wife, Patricia (Bare) Arnold, are his daughters Daune (Arnold) Mena and her husband, Aaron, of California, Debra (Arnold) Reddecliff and her husband, Steve, of Colorado; son Scott Arnold, and his wife, Hollye, of Colorado; seven grandchildren, Joshua Trammell, Mandy (Trammell) Gheza and her husband Clay, Cody Arnold, Allye Arnold, Nik Reddecliff, Alysa Reddecliff, and Connor Mena; one great grandchild, Wes Gheza; one brother, Gerald Arnold; one sister, Sharon (Arnold) Norris, and her husband, Jimmy; many nieces and nephews.
Roger was always active in church no matter where he lived and served as a Deacon. Roger made many friends throughout the years. He had a passion for animals, motorcycles and Facebook stalking.
