

Roger Loren Peterson was born in Manhattan, Kansas. He was born to Melvin and Jocelyn (Parsons) Peterson whom preceded him in death. Roger in his youth spent time in Haiti, Illinois and Washington traveling with his parents before coming to Colorado Springs, CO in 1967 and moving to Widefield, CO in 1974. Roger then spent four years in the Air Force, exiting as a staff sergeant stationed in Alaska and Colorado throughout his military career. After separating from the Air Force, Roger pursued his Bachelor’s in Business Management. He hosted tours of Historic Colorado sites to assist teachers in achieving their teacher accreditation. Roger spent most of his life in retail management while pursuing his interests in Native American flutes, Disc Golf, sarcasm, and being an avid outdoorsman.
Roger was Married January, 18th 1969 to and Survived by Harleen Winabelle (Tanser) Peterson. Children: Steven and Jenni (Young) Peterson and James and Kelly (Garrick) Blackman. Grandchildren: Jessica (Blackman) and Robert Andress, Andie (Rogers) and Elijah Turner, Briana (Peterson) Lepine, Loren and Alexandra “Zandra” (Rose) Peterson. Great-grandchildren: Jacob, Michalah, Annie, Emilie, Malachi, Harlie, Angel, and Aurora. Also Survived by brother Alan and Karen (Senters) Peterson and his children Erik Peterson, and Tonya (Peterson) and Rich Williamson. He is also survived by an Aunt Barb and several cousins.
Celebration of life will be held at the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 423, 2 Carson Circle, Fountain, Colorado 80817 on Sunday, June 29th, 2025 at 3pm.
Military Honors Service will be held at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery.,10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925 on Monday, June 30th, 2025 at 1pm.
