

Ron was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his son Douglas (Momoko) Wittnebel of Walnut Creek, CA, daughter Kelly (X B) Cox of Colorado Springs, CO, daughter Kristi (Jerry) Eumont of Sugar Land, TX, and daughter Jill Wittnebel of Los Angeles, CA. Also surviving are grand-children Jordan Peterson, Christopher Eumont, Jack Eumont, Luke Eumont and Zoe Wittnebel; niece Susan Wittnebel and nephew Scott Wittnebel of MN. One grandson, XB “Boone” Cox IV preceded him in death.
Ron attended University of Minnesota from 1950-1955 where he earned a B.S. in Geology. It was at U of Minn where Ron met his wife, the late Donna Nelson Wittnebel. They married after university and relocated to Fort Sill, Oklahoma where Ron taught communications and electronics in the Field Artillery School for the U. S. Army. After a 2 year stint with the Army, Ron joined Shell Oil Co. and enjoyed living in Mississippi and Louisiana. It was in Louisiana where he perfected his golf swing while playing at Bayou Barriere Country Club in Belle Chase, Louisiana.
Ron and Donna moved to Houston in 1983 where he worked for Pectin International, traveling frequently to Cameroon in search of crude oil and natural gas. He enjoyed his golfing community at Raveneaux Country Club. Ron was an avid reader and a student of multiple languages. When Ron retired in 1989, they travelled extensively to Europe, Asia, Africa, and the U.S. His favorite places were Paris and Africa.
After Donna’s passing in March, 2022, Ron moved to Colorado Springs, CO where he spent his final months.
