Roy Edward LeKander

Roy was born on November 1, 1950 in Chicago, IL to parents George and Mary (Sanche) LeKander. George and Mary raised their five children in Hinsdale, IL. Roy attended St. Isaac Jogues and Hinsdale Central High School. He was a proud member of Hinsdale Central’s Class of 1968 and kept in touch with many childhood friends.

Roy moved to Colorado Springs in 1985. He started his own lawn care business, which he ran for over 25 years.

Roy was an avid baseball fan and loved his Chicago Cubs. He played softball throughout the years, enjoying both the game and the friends he made on his teams.

Roy was uniquely kind and patient. He was a devoted son, loving big brother and treasured uncle. His family deeply admired his loving, gentle spirit; he truly had a heart of gold.

Roy is survived by his mother, Mary; brother, Robert; sisters Jane (Gary) Fairbairn, Georgia (Kevin) O’Gara, and Amy (Scott) Rogers; 9 nieces and nephews; and 14 great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father.

Roy’s life will be celebrated at a Mass on June 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church, 11020 Teachout Rd, Colorado Springs, CO 80908.
