

Stanley James Brown, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 92 on July 1, 2025 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, following a courageous battle with Colon Cancer. He was born in Collbran, Colorado, on September 3, 1932 to George Alexander Brown and Amy Ellen Brown.
Stanley’s life was defined by his dedication to family, country and community. He Married the love of his life, Kay Marie Brown, on December 7, 1957, with whom he shared a remarkable 67-year-long journey. Together, they raised two devoted children, Michael Jay Brown and Julie Marie Drago.
A proud veteran, Stanley served with distinction in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Lake Champlain. After his service, he pursued higher education at the University of Denver, earning both a B.A. in accounting and an MBA in Business. His professional career as an auditor for the United States Government spanned decades. Notable, his efforts culminated in receiving a prestigious recognition from Secretary James Watt for his contributions to the Department of the Interior during the Reagan administration.
Stanley is remembered fondly for his penchant for writing, having left a legacy of three trunks filled with his written works, an enduring testament to his reflective and introspective nature. He shared a love of music with his son, often playing the guitar while Michael accompanied him on the banjo. He was a man with a sharp and subtle wit and he had a knack for light hearted humor.
Stanley’s love for traveling and his unwavering support for the Denver Broncos were among his many passions. His poetic spirit was cherished by Kay, to whom he would often present his poems.
He is survived by his wife Kay, son Michael and daughter Julie along with his son-in-law Tom and his two grandchildren, A.J. and Lily.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, including sisters Mary, Louise, Margaret and Betty and his brothers George Jr. and Robert.
A committal service will be held at Pikes Peak National Cemetery with military honors. A memorial service will be held at Brookdale Skyline, at a later date, where friends can honor his memory.
