Ted S. Smolik, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on January 14, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born November 28, 1937, at Kopyczynce, District of Tarnopol, Poland. He was the oldest of 2 children born to Teodor and Maria Nee Kuszelnik Smolik. His brother Jorge Smolik preceded him in passing.
Ted immigrated to the US in 1950, became a naturalized citizen, and spent most of his life in Clinton, Iowa. He graduated from Clinton High School having obtained his diploma while going to night school, and working as a printer-pressman at the Clinton Herald for many years. Due to declining health, Ted moved to Colorado Springs in 2011, where his former wife, Jane and daughter Mary were available to assist him with health issues.
Ted leaves behind his former wife, Jane Smolik and their 4 children: Michael T. Smolik of Albion, IA; Sheryl A. Smolik of Albuquerque, NM; Susan M. Pinkston of Clinton, IA; Mary K. Gronberg of Colorado Springs; and grandchildren, Jacob, Jacklyn, Dillon, Michael, Savannah, Arai, and Kaela, 2 great grandchildren, Bennet and Hawken, and 2 step granddaughters, Edie and RayAnn. Also 2 half-sisters in Mexico, Magdalena and Alexandra.
A memorial service for Mr. Smolik will be held at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, Colorado Springs, CO on January 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
