Tom was born on the rolling plains of central Nebraska on May 9, 1951, in the town of North Platte, to Charles and Angela Denesia. Of course, this made him a lifelong fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He was the youngest in a family of four children, and was predeceased by his sister, Jean, and his brother, Ken, and is survived by his brother, Roger, and wife Judy, of Overland Park, Kansas. After graduation from Wayne High School, where he was active in sports and band, he attended Wichita State University, graduating in 1974 with a degree in engineering. He also earned a commission as a lieutenant in the US Air Force, followed a few years later by a Masters Degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. After leaving active duty, Tom continued in the Air Force Reserves, retiring in 2004 with the rank of Colonel. Tom began his career as a civil service employee with the Air Force as an operations research analyst in 1988, serving in a variety of locations and ultimately retiring in 2020 at Peterson AFB, CO.
While attending Wichita State, Tom met his future bride, Kathleen Ann Crown, and they were married December 27, 1975. He was the loving father and grandfather of two sons, Brian and Eric, both of Louisville, CO, and one grandson, Dylan Zebulon.
To know Tom was to have a lifelong friend who would do anything for you. He had a wide range of interests, to include scientific and engineering topics, finance, health and fitness, automotive, sports and, primarily, his relationship with Jesus Christ. In addition, he was an active member and past president and Fellow of the Military Operations Research Society (MORS).
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at the Wilson Community Church, 6460 Flying W Ranch Road, in Colorado Springs, at 10:00 am on Monday, November 20, 2023, with interment at 1:00 pm at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Brennan Road, with full military honors.
Philippians 4:7 — And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and your minds in Christ Jesus. Tom left this world a better place and will be missed by his family and many friends.
