

Thomas William Medlin entered life July 24, 1938 in Oakland, California and left this world on July 5,
2015.
Tom was preceded in death by both his mother, Harriette Cecilia Walters (2014) and father, William Virgil
Medlin (2003).
He is survived by his wife Leona Medlin, sister Joan Margaret (Oakland, Ca), and daughters Melissa
Mabry & brother-in-law Tom Mabry (Peyton, Co), Kitty Redmon & brother-in-law Matt Redmon
(Fairbanks, Ak), Beverley Medlin (Colorado Springs, Co), along with grandkids Tasha & Justin Jennings
(Red Boiling Springs, Tn), Amber Bass (Denver, Co), Kalie Redmon, Lane Redmon, Vienna Redmon, as
well as two great-grandkids Evelyn Jennings, Adam Jennings
While in college, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1959. During his time in the military, he spent
two years over in Germany. He earned the rank of Sargent (E-5) before he went into the reserves. He
was fortunate enough not to be called up for Viet Nam, while always ready to do his part.
He married is soul mate, Leona, on June 29, 1963 in Colorado Springs and they celebrated their 52nd
anniversary right before his passing with cheesecake!
He earned a two-year degree in Psychology that came in handy while raising three headstrong,
boisterous girls and one rough and tumble, headstrong grandchild.
After the military, he work a few jobs including cab driver where he drove over a million miles, right here in
Colorado Springs. Then, hired on with the US Postal Service in 1969. Worked as a window clerk for
many years and ended up in the Bulk mail division before he retired from the Post Office on December 31
2007 with 40 years of service. One of the last of the Civil Servants.
He was a Member of Clan Buchanan Society where he became Regent for many years, always eager to
don his Kilt with fellow Scotsmen and participate in events.
He worshiped at Eastborough Church of the Nazarene
Tom is to be cremated. His memorial is this Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 1pm at Eastborough Church of the Nazarene 4123 E. Pikes Peak.
