December 11, 2020. Born in Clarksville, TN, son of retired LTC Leo and Mary Thieme. Thomas
is survived by his wife Reta Thieme of 52 years, daughters Teresa Moore (her spouse Antonio
Moore) and Jennifer McCollom, and four grandchildren: Alexandria, Ryan, Oscar, and Winston.
Oldest of four children and beloved brother to Vickie Spate, Pat Graham, and Jim Thieme.
Lastly a treasured uncle to his nephews, nieces, and their spouses.
Tom grew up as a military brat traveling all over the world. He graduated from Colorado State
University with a degree in mathematics, playing basketball and commissioned by the ROTC
program in 1969.
Tom served in Vietnam with distinction and honor. He completed his remaining years of service
with his family all over the world, retiring in 1993 after 24 years.
Upon retiring from the Army, he moved back to Monument, CO where he taught high school
mathematics as a second career until 2007.
Through the years he had many hobbies and interests including running, woodworking, bow
hunting, hiking, traveling and fishing. His love for the outdoors was only matched by the love of
his family.
Tom will be missed, remembered, and loved by all for his many sayings, dance moves, witty
sense of humor, and good company. We will miss him dearly - our hero, amazing husband,
father, and friend. Only the good die young…..
A celebration of his life and military honors will be held at a later date when his friends and
family can gather safely together.
