

Pete was born on July 30, 1939, to Robert and Edna Rush in Oberlin, Kansas. He and his siblings Donna, Lemoin, and Sharon spent their childhood years helping tend to the family farm outside of Oberlin. Pete graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1957 and was later drafted into the Army. He was stationed at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado and served his country proudly.
Pete married Barbara Kuhn in 1964 and had 3 children, Robyn, Jeffrey and Jennifer. Pete went to work for Koch Industries as a field supervisor. Pete and Barbara later divorced but he remained a loving father to his children.
Pete moved to Byers, Colorado in the late 1970s where he met Phyllis Pemberton. They married in 1979 in Strasburg, Colorado. Pete added to his growing family Phyllis’ two children Mary Ellen and Patricia. Pete and Phyllis loved to travel and often visited Patricia in Florida.
Pete worked for Koch Industries for many years, eventually becoming a regional supervisor for several western states, including Colorado. Upon retirement, Pete and Phyllis moved to Colorado Springs. Phyllis passed away in 2014 after 33 years of marriage. Pete continued to stay busy doing the things he loved.
Pete was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis; his father, Robert Rush; his mother, Edna Rush; and each of his siblings, Iva Rush, Lemoin Rush, Donna Lawver, and Sharon Shuetz.
Pete leaves behind his children, Robyn (Marty) Bender, Jeffrey Rush, Jennifer Long, Patricia Lane, and Mary Ellen Lohr; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, March 1, 2024 at Chapel of Memories, 829 South Hancock Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. A Reception is to follow from 11:00AM to 1:00PM.
Pete will be laid to rest at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.
