Terry leaves behind his treasured wife of 58 years, Doris, his only daughter Angie, and four grandchildren Cory Swonson, Brooke Woolman, Riley Swonson, and Trevor Swonson. He also leaves his step father Lou Shaw, his brother Jim Mick, Steve Swonson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews to grieve his loss. Terry was predeceased by his parents William L. Mick and Christene Shaw, his brother Jack Mick and his sister Nancy Kelly.
Terry was born in Lamar, CO on April 27, 1940. He graduated from Canon City High School and enlisted in the US Army in 1959 serving his nation in communications and security, which set him up fora lifetime career in civil service. As one of the first civilian contractors to walk through the doors of Cheynne Mountain, he began a noteworthy career in top secret positions. Through Terry’s leadership, he led a team of nationwide command and control experts that created the benchmark for the evolution to an Air Force wide C2 management process.
Yet even with his brilliant career, his greatest source of happiness came from his strong and loving marriage, and his love and devotion to family life. Terry never missed an opportunity to share his legendary smile, his quick wit, or his enormous love for God and country. He was an exceptional prankster, took joy in being pranked, and shared his humor and laughter with all. He was extremely proud of his daughter Angie and was very involved with all of his grandchildren delighting in their every accomplishment.
Terry never met a golf course that he didn’t love, he was a league bowler for years and a member of the ORBS Society at Peterson Field. He was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
