Bill was born in South Carolina to Junior David Way and Mary Foley Way in 1943. Since his father was in the Air Force, he attended many schools including five high schools. He ultimately graduated from Wasson High School in Colorado Springs, CO and El Paso Community College with an Associate’s Degree.
After high school, Bill joined the US Army and spent two years, 11 months, and 28 days in uniform. He then worked odd jobs in Colorado Springs until he went to Hampton, VA where he met and married the love of his life, Michele Kuhn.
Together they moved with their young daughter, Kimberlie to Colorado Springs where he joined the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Their son David was born when they lived in a log cabin in Black Forest. While living the rural life, they raised rabbits, chickens, ducks, and a pig, and had horses on their “ranchette.”
After Bill retired from CSPD with 29 years of service, the “Adventurous Ways” bought a sailboat and cruised the waters of Florida, Cuba, and the Bahamas with friends. When that adventure ended, they bought a fifth wheel trailer and cruised the roadways of America from Florida to Alaska and back.
Over the years, Bill enjoyed all sports including bowling, golf, and surf fishing. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the company of good friends.
Bill was predeceased by his mother, father, and his beloved grandmother Miss Ollie. He is survived by his wife Michele, daughter Kimberlie, son David, granddaughter Lora, grandson Jacob and 5 great grandchildren.
Bill lived a long happy and fulfilling life with too many adventures to name. He was loved and revered by his family, friends and colleagues. He will always be remembered and greatly missed.
