

On July 24, 2010, the Lord called home one of His most precious disciples, Willie Mae Walker. She was born on December 8, 1926 to Dan and Charlotte (Anderson) Gendraw in Montgomery, Alabama. It was there that she met John Walker, who she married in Tacoma, Washington, on November 6, 1946. After traveling to military bases around the world during John’s U.S. Army career, the couple settled down in Colorado Springs to raise their nine children: Taylor (Sun-Cha), Juanita (James), John Jr. (Yun-Hui), Angelo, Joyce, Phyllis, Gail (Kenneth), Alonzo (Dana) and Gabriel (Judie). Willie Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John, their son, Angelo, her sisters, Josephine and Lucy Rose, and her brother, James. In addition to her loving children, she leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 8 great- grand children and one great-great granddaughter. Services will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home (3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910, phone (719) 596-7990) on Monday, August 2, from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 1, from 3-7:00 p.m.
