Aurora Jimenez Larios was born on February 24, 1924 in Jalisco, Mexico. Her parents were Jose Trinidad Jimenez Peña and Hermalinda Larios. She had three brothers and four sisters. She loved attending church with her mom and was a very faithful person. She never attended a day of school and taught herself to read and write at the church. She grew up on a banana plantation and would help out with the responsibilities of the household. She was 23 years old when she married Zeferino Acosta Deniz on April 07, 1947 and together they had twelve children. In 1960, they came to live in Ciudad Guzman, Jalisco, Mexico where they opened a small fast food restaurant. They were known for their delicious menudo. She involved herself with the church community and enjoyed participating and helping the priests as much as she could. She became a widow at age 50. After her older children immigrated to the USA, she requested a visa to visit her children. She then became a permanent resident in 1993 and became a US Citizen when she was 74 years old. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, and going to the casino to play slot machines. She was a determined and strong-willed woman, who had no problem telling you how she felt. One thing she could not go without eating everyday was a banana and her Yerba Buena. Whether it was for drinking, for healing, or for someone else. No matter how bad the injury Yerba Buena was the cure for it. She will be missed greatly by her family.
