My Cousin Beverly was one of my favorite people in the world. So many people have used the word classy to describe her. She was definitely classy. I would like to add these adjectives also: Christ-like,  compassionate, strong, faithful, confident, steady, reliable, a true friend, knowledgeable and fun!

She shaped my life in so many ways,  protecting my feet by insisting I wear shoes outside, teaching me about finances, demonstrating how to be a lady in society, and setting an example of courage and strength when facing life’s adversities. 

I will miss her greatly. There is a hole in my heart now that she is gone. She will never be forgotten, though, because her lessons live on in all of us who were privileged to have spent time with her. 

I eagerly await the resurrection when we will be all together again. 

I will always smile when I think of my mother in law Bev Price. She welcomed me completely into the Price family and always made me feel special when I brought the family to visit her and Lynn in Ventura and whenever we got together. She was very witty and appreciated a great laugh.  As a son in law, I was always very pleased when I could make her "Laugh out Loud" (LOL). Her laugh was infectious.

Melody snapped this picture of her on a train in Turkey reaching for the camera. She said she didn't like this picture, but I loved it as I saw the "silly side of Bev" in the photo so I made it into a mug and wrapped it up for her as a Christmas gift from me. 

When she opened this gift from me. Her response was perfect. "You Stinker!" she said to me in the most hilarious way possible. She followed this with the biggest LOL.

We shared many other laughs and I will always treasure the time that I got to spend with Bev. See you soon. I love you.

Mommie was one of the most unique people I have ever known. She was outgoing, yet called herself shy;  she was curious, yet could worry;  smart, however had never graduated from college; adventuresome, yet cautious;  funny, but controlled;  practical but could be silly; sophisticated, yet down to earth;  frugal, yet generous. Her tireless energy even up to till the end was always an inspiration to me and everyone she encountered.
Mommie was a people person to the degree that she would find reasons to talk to strangers on the street. If she was planning a trip, purchasing a car or even just trying out a new restaurant, she would question anyone and everyone about that place or item, because  she did not  "have the google" but truly I believe she enjoyed connecting with people and just having an excuse to make more friends. And she DID  make friends, even in her early 90's, she was making new friends.
I owe  so much to her but primarily  the development of who I am today,  I often find myself saying  exactly what I  later realize she would have said in a given situation.  I believe she helped me to become a person who observes situations, people, and places  and dives  in to enjoy them and find out more about them.  I will continue to  aim to live life to the fullest and connect with people each day as she did. 
My fondest adult memory with her was our trip to Turkey when she was 85. She had dreamt of it her whole life  and just seemed to immerse herself into every moment we spent there. 
She and I spoke a few times in this last year about where we would meet in Heaven someday soon and decided on the Tree of Life. She would smile when I said  that while saying goodbye during my last visits. I look forward to running into her arms there and hearing her say "Melody!"  in a singsong tone, the way she would say it when I would arrive to visit her. I can  just hear it now....
I'll love  and miss her till the day I die.

Thank you for welcoming me into your  family . The memories with you together with our family will be cherished by me for the rest of my life. Thank you for your love and generosity. Your dignity of “doing the best we can” is a gift that I will always carry with me. I love you and I will miss you . Rest in Jesus.

My mom Beverly, was truly my best friend.  It was not always that way, but as you become older & your mother does too, roles change.  I enjoyed plopping down on her sofa in her apt after I had had a long day at work. Mommy always loved to hear any story I would share with her. Though her hearing was very impaired, she listened to every word I shared, with relish. She loved being a part of my life, Mommy loved talking and listening and always was ready with her list of suggestions for me. She knew all of my friends and enjoyed hearing all about them. She knew most all of our kids' friends and asked about them frequently. My mom was a "people person" to the core. She loved visiting so much that you never ever read a book in her presence or stared at your phone, because she felt if you were with her, there should be conversation!  Mommy adored her grandkids and never ever missed an opportunity to see them at a school program, sporting event or a performance of any type. She was extremely proud of all of them and frequently told them so, usually slipping them monetary rewards for a job well done. She wasn't super demonstrative, but we all knew she would walk thru fire for us if we needed her. We all loved her laugh. Her grandkids loved cracking her up with their antics, but even more frequently, her antics and humor would bring the house down. Her funny sayings and mannerisms are such rich memories.  We all loved traveling with her, especially to her favorite Hale Koa hotel in Waikiki and to Bellows AFB beach, where she loved reclining on her chair in the shade, watching her grandkids boogey board in the waves. That was where she seemed the most content, the most fulfilled, the happiest. As she became more feeble, I spent most of my days and evenings with her. It was so special to climb into bed with her at bedtime and sing "God Will Take Care of You" to her, before I left for home, she always sang along with me, then told me she loved me.  My mom...I KNEW she loved me.

Grammie was such a bright soul and fun loving grandma. She taught me so many things and was such an important part of my life. I’ll never forget the ways she made me laugh and how in the times we would tell her something exciting we did she’d say “nooooo” in disbelief. She was such a strong woman with incredible wit and vigor she always kept pushing forward even when things got difficult. 

She cared a great deal about all her grandchildren and attended every life event, celebrated every tiny win and worried for us when we were struggling. She know all my friends names and somehow even who they were dating sometimes too, she always checked in with everyone regularly and recalled small details of those she loved every time she saw them. She had a memory like a steal trap and she always connected with people by being inquisitive and concerned. 

Grammie was also always so put together, frugal, resourceful, perseverant and independent with all she did. She taught me how to be a brave and hardworking woman in a harsh world, she taught me how to beat the odds and gave me never ending support and love. 

One thing that brought us close was she shared my love for thrift stores and a good deals, she always celebrated my thrift finds with me when I’d show her.  I will really miss her asking me, “now is that outfit  from the thrift shop?” I also loved wearing her old clothes or vintage items that I knew she’d like. I spent lots of time to her this last year and a half of her life and I will never forget the deep talks and how we became even closer before she passed away.

Grammie is greatly missed and was deeply loved. I will never forget all the memories I have with her and I hope one day I can become as strong, resourceful and classy as her too.

My beloved Grammy was always there for me. I was always impressed by how active and present she always was, even in her old age. But most of all, I loved her sense of sarcasm and witty humor. She could convey any emotion with one glance, and she used this ability often. 
She didn’t only use this to be funny though. A glance from across the room was how she would tell you she loved you, a way to combat her lack of hearing at times. But it was her signature all the same.
I’ll miss her generous spirit and unbridled kindness, but my memory of her will live on in me. Rest In Peace Grammy, God is coming soon.

Grammie has made a lasting impact on my life. Every holiday memory I have is filled with happy images because of her. Hunting for Easter eggs in her backyard, finding an orange in the bottom of my Christmas stocking, or getting a familiar check for my birthday with the recommendation not to “spend it all in one place”... all of these happy moments were made possible and encouraged by my grandma and her deep love for her grandchildren. She never forgot my birthday, and even when separated by miles of distance, she would send a Birthday card in the mail and sing “Happy Birthday” to me over the phone without fail. 

Despite her poor hearing toward the end of her life, she was a great listener. In fact, her credulity made for fun moments when telling her stories. She would guffaw and loudly exclaim “no!” in response to thrilling details. She would be fully engaged in the story, delighting at every moment. During loud cross-talk at family dinners, I would often translate stories into bite-sized soundbites that she could hear and understand. It would be a fun moment to watch her catch up to the rest of the conversation and offer her own commentary, often making everyone burst into laughter with her funny “Grammie-isms”. 

Grammie’s encouragement of my development from a young age has led me to where I am today. She used to give me mutual fund prospectuses, which engendered a fascination with investing. She was so proud to attend my violin and piano recitals, and bragged about me often to her friends. These and other experiences led me to the path that I am on today, and I give her tremendous credit for fostering ambition in me from a young age. 

I have countless videos and photos of Grammie on my phone, and even a voicemail or two that remind me of those little moments that I will always cherish. But none will be able to compare to the joy we will all share with Grammie again when Jesus returns to take us home. I love you Grammie!

You were blessed to have a beautiful, unique, classy mom!  I enjoyed seeing her on many occasions over the years.  How could I not love a Lady who always wanted to hold my babies and tell me how beautiful she thought they were.   She always had a kind word to share with me. 

Only the best moms are born on January 7!  I can’t wait to share an incredible birthday party with our beloved moms under the Tree of Life!! What a party it will be!!!!!

Remember all the good times and know you were loved and are loved now!

Beverly was a good lady.  Always classy.  
Melody would tell me many stories of her great childhood.  You don’t have good memories unless you have good patents.  

Beverly raised sweet girls and she helped to raise good grandchildren.  She made sure everyone got a solid Christian education.

The few times I met Melody’s mom I was always greeted with a smile.  I will miss seeing her but I will see her again in heaven.  Hugs to the family, love, Susan Barton.

Meredith and Melody my heart goes out to you!!! Your mom was such a kind lady. First time I met your mom was when Meredith and I were in elementary school, her kindness was evident even then. Your mom would give us a treat with some milk as pepper gave us her puppy dog stare through the glass sliding door.  As the years went by, I would meet her running errands in Ventura and she always would greet me with a smile and compassion. What a great woman! No doubt you have some beautiful memories of her love etched on your heart!  May God hold you close through this difficult time. I am so sorry !! You will be in my thoughts and prayers

She came to visit in Colorado.  We would talk about the Hale Koa in Hawaii as it was my parent's favorite place. Her ready smile, and lively spirit always welcoming. She always remembered who I was....and I loved seeing her every time she came. More conversations to look forward to in Heaven. 

Going to Grammie’s house when my sisters and I were little was one of the most anticipated events. It took around 7-8 hours to drive there from our home, so it felt like an incredible journey. When we arrived, Grammie often had stayed up late to greet us and make sure we were settled in. Some of the best times at her house was with the cousins watching movies and playing in the backyard or at the local park. Grammie always created space for her grandkids to enjoy, and I look back with so much gratitude. One of the best memories was that she would always wave from the street as we drove away to leave her home. We always knew she’d be there to welcome us back. I cannot wait for the moment we get to all meet in Heaven, where there will never again be a need to wave goodbye.
