

Delmar (Del) Gene Chase, age 78, of Calimesa, Ca., passed away on March 12, 2011. Del was born in Edna, Texas on March 18, 1932. He grew up on a farm in Texas with his sister, May, and brother, Dewey. During his High School years, Del was an excellent tennis player, making it to the State Finals in his senior year. Later he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and served for 4 years. He was honorably discharged in 1954. During his service time he attended the University of New York for Dental Specialty Training, where he met and eventually married his wife of 56 years, the former Margaret Kaspar of Brooklyn, NY. Del’s Air Force training led him to a career stretching over 55 years in the Dental Industry as a Certified Dental Technician. During their time together Del and Margaret lived mainly in San Bernardino County, where they opened their own Dental Lab in Grand Terrace, Ca. Although Del spent many hours working and providing for his family, he always made time for his three children; taking them to swim meets, band practice, camping and boating. Even with all this, he always ensured that he and the love of his life spent time together. He and Margaret, loved to go to Maui and to take cruises, the highlight was cruising through the Panama Canal. Dearly loved by his family and many friends, he always tried to brighten your day with humor and smile. He always went the extra mile for everyone, even if he just met you. He enjoyed staying involved in his community, playing bingo and cards with his friends. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret; his daughter Sandra (Chase) Finan of Washington D.C., sons John Randall (Randy) Chase and Delmar Chase Jr of Redlands; son-in-law Charles Finan: grandchildren Shauna, Ashley, Jonathan, and Whitney Chase; great grandchild Jeremiah Chase. Visitation will be held on March 21st from 4-8pm at Montecito Memorial Park Valley View Chapel, 3520 East Washington St., Colton, Ca. 92324. Funeral services will be held on March 22nd at 10am at Montecito Memorial Park Valley View Chapel. Interment will be at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 East Washington St., Colton, Ca. 92324 following the Funeral service. Thank you to Del’s Cardiologist, Dr Cynthia Ruiz who kept him alive for many years and allowed him to live a good life; also, Dr Timothy O’Neal who took care of his overall well-being, you are both phenomenal. And to the many friends at the Plantation who were always there for Del when he was ill or in the Hospital. You are all greatly appreciated. Thank you all!
