Edward Floriano Cortez

Edward F. Cortez of Colton, CA passed away on August 23, 2023. Born in December 1936 in Colton to Ruth “Cuca” and Manual Cortez. Ed lived eighty-six years. In 1958, Ed married Nellie Fernandez, also of Colton, CA. They had been married sixty-four years upon his death. Ed is preceded in death by his son, Lawrence D. Cortez and is survived by his wife, Nellie F. Cortez, his children, Eddie Cortez, Jr., Sharon A. Hughbanks, and Sylvia L. Cortez. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Marisa (Cortez) Tahmasian, Benito and Leanna Cortez, Sam Resendez, Stephanie (Resendez) Martinez, Kyle David and Karla Cortez, Robert Hughbanks, and his great grandchildren, Luke Tahmasian, Laelene, Isaac, Jayden, and Jaylene Cortez, Brayden and Kaelyn Leaf, Natalia and Cruz Martinez, and Eli Resendez. Ed “Hoss” served twenty-three years in the Colton Fire Department, retiring as Fire Captain in 1994. He enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, and family gatherings. Ed will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Montecito Valley View Chapel, 3520 E. Washington St., Colton, CA. The placement of Ed’s remains will be performed during a private service at a later date.
