Elisa Arrogante Mendoza was born on August 25, 1934 in Tabogon, Cebu, Philippines. She was the only daughter of Patrocenia Villafuente Lobitaña and Teodulo Monterde Arrogante and was fondly called “Inday Elisa” by her 9 brothers.
Her childhood was mostly reminisced as helping her parents in a corn farmland. Her family survived the ravage of World War II.
She had the utmost desire to obtain education so she worked through school and was able to finish Nutrition and Dietitics at Philippine Union College (now Adventist University of the Philippines). She met her husband Gabriel B. Mendoza, Sr. in that college. Both of them had the desire to be teachers so she pursue and finished another degree in Education.
She got married in April 28, 1964 at Capitol Center Church, Cebu City. They were blessed with 3 daughters and 1 son.
Most of her life was dedicated to teach and mold young people to become better citizens in this world. She taught in schools in the southern Philippines. Namely, Western Mindanao Academy - Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur; Mindanao Mission Academy - Manticao, Misamis Oriental; Lake View Academy - Don Carlos, Bukidnon.
Her motto in life is to be humble, pray always and serve God.
In 1985, together with her husband, they were privileged to migrate to the United States. She worked for a couple of years in the US until her retirement. She stayed with Gladdy, (the youngest daughter) until her last breath on April 11, 2021.
