Hayden Carlton was born on August 12, 1933 in Taylorsville, North Carolina to James and Ruby Carlton. As a young man, he entered into the Air Force where he served for 21 years including the Korean War and Vietnam War. While in the Air Force, he met Yvonne, who became his wife of 60 years. He was a loving father to five children: Connie, Cathy, Cecil, Butch, and Carol. After retiring from the military, he served at the Post Office in Rialto for another 20 years. In his retirement, he loved to spend time with family and work in his garden. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, captivating storytelling abilities and creation of silly songs and nicknames.
Hayden was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruby Carlton; his brothers James, Beryl, and John Carlton; his sisters Phyllis Riley, Billie Jo Brown, Linda Anderson, and Bessie Jean Wright. He is survived by his wife Yvonne Carlton; children Connie Carlton, Cathy (Ben) Coffey, Cecil Carlton, Butch Carlton, and Carol (Marshall) Martinez; his brother Thomas Carlton; his sisters Hazel Faucett and Carol Timmons; special in-laws William and Shirley Baird; 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
