time, she was the youngest of 4 children, Olivia, Mike and Joe. Eddie would join as the youngest some years later. Hilda grew up in Huntington Park with her family and it was soon known that she was her dad's favorite. It was the worst kept secret in the family. If one of her siblings mentioned it, she'd have a devilish grin and claim that it wasn't true. When she was very little, she earned the nickname Mosca (fly) from her siblings because their parents always made the older siblings take care of her and like a fly, she wouldn't go away. When they were older, Hilda would still laugh at the old nickname. In High School she was a cheerleader at Huntington Park High School until a knee injury made it too difficult to continue. At age 16, she started to go gray and Joe helped by dyeing her hair blonde. She loved the new color and was still blonde when she graduated.
Soon after High School she had two boys (Roger & David) and worked different jobs, most notably the Boy Scouts. From there she predominantly stayed at home to look after the boys and help out with Soccer activities as a Team Mom.
In 1995, Hilda married Mario Rodriguez in the Chapel of Love in Las Vegas. Soon after the marriage Hilda and Mario had two daughters (Natalie and Ashley). Hilda loved to laugh and to have fun. She was fully devoted to her family and would do anything it took to make sure they had what they needed and were taken care of. She worked different jobs over the years to help support her family and owned a small business stitching jerseys for sports teams. All 4 of her children grew up watching, learning and eventually helping to fill orders.
Hilda was a collector, whether elephant or hummingbird knick-knacks, diamond art projects or crosses to decorate the walls of her home. The inspiration to collect things probably came from her mother Belia Aldrete.
Hilda is survived by her 4 children, Roger, David, Natalie and Ashley and her husband Mario. Even though she is no longer with us, we know she is with her dad and probably watching over her family.
