Ignatius Araujo, also known as Iggy, was born in Karachi, Pakistan to Cecile and Roque Araujo on May 24, 1954. He was the oldest of four siblings; Frances, Andre, Marina and Kenn. He moved to California when he was 17 years old and began his life, working for the company he would eventually own, Accuturn Corporation. He is survived by his soulmate and wife, Lourdes Araujo - they would’ve celebrated 40 years of marriage this August – and four children, Lesley Romero (Jason Romero), Lisa Araujo, Mark Araujo and Lauren Ortiz (Eddie Ortiz). He was a loving, caring and devoted father who wanted nothing but the best for his kids and was always there for them no matter what. He was also a loving grandfather to his grandbabies, Blase, Kendall and Ezekiel, whom he adored.
Iggy found success as a business owner but maintained a promise to always help others and remained devoted to his family. He achieved the American Dream.
Iggy was a big sports enthusiast and loved watching and coaching his kids and grandkids in numerous sports. If there was an opportunity for him to race a car or fly a plane, you bet he was there. If he had the chance, he also loved taking a drive to the beach. Most importantly, Iggy was a humble, giving and God-fearing man who was devoted to his church and deeply loved his family and friends. He was always there for everyone whenever they were in need and would give the shirt off his back for a stranger. He was remembered by many as the kindest person they’ve ever met.
Unfortunately, Iggy was diagnosed with ALS and taken too soon. He passed away peacefully at his home in Upland in March. His presence was immeasurable and the heartache immense. He will be deeply missed. We will hold you in our hearts until we can hold you in Heaven.
