

J. Lamont Murdoch, a resident of Loma Linda, California, passed away on October 27, 2025, at the age of 87. He passed away peacefully in his own home surrounded by family. He was born on August 7, 1938, in Watford, England. He was a son of the late W.G.C. and Ruth Murdoch.
J. Lamont, or Monte as he was affectionately known, is survived by wife Becky; children Julie and Jim Lorenz, Linda and Dan Carr, Tricia and Mike Zmaj, Matthew and Chaya Murdoch, and Marlissa and Kevin House; four grandchildren; and siblings Marilyn and Cliff Herrmann, Floyd and Lynetta Murdoch, and sister-in-law Jeanne Murdoch.
Dr. Murdoch dedicated his life to caring for patients as an endocrinologist. He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1963 and went on to complete a fellowship in medicine in the Division of Human Genetics at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1969. He served at the Loma Linda University Medical Center as chief of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism for 36 years.
He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and was very involved as a member of the Loma Linda University Church. In his free hours, he was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading poetry.
A visitation will be held at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, Cypress Chapel, located at 24145 Barton Road, Loma Linda, CA 92354. The visitation is scheduled for Friday, November 28, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A memorial service will be held at Loma Linda University Church in the main sanctuary, located at 11125 Campus St, Loma Linda, CA 92354. The memorial is scheduled for Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 11:00 am.
J. Lamont Murdoch was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
