John Henry Faber was born January 23, 1951 in Long Beach, CA, the oldest by 20 minutes of identical twins. His twin brother, Dan, and he were soon followed by two more brothers, Jim and Tom. In 1955, the family moved to Rialto, CA, where they stayed throughout their school years. As twins, they were very popular and had many friends.
John was an avid surfer, as a teenager, and every chance he could get, he, his twin and several friends would load up their surfboards in his 1954 Ford station wagon and head for the various beaches. He continued his surfing enthusiasm well into his 30s.
John met his future wife, Sylvia, just before his high school graduation in 1969. They were married in 1972. They were blest with two wonderful children, Brian and Nicole. Nicole, also, has blest him with two grandsons, Tyler and Chase.
John enjoyed family events and traveling. Every year, he would plan vacations and weekend getaways. When the children were small, every year the family would enjoy camping trips and going to the Beach and River. As the family matured, the vacations graduated to timeshares and geographical locations expanded. When the children moved out, John’s passion for vacations led him and Sylvia to Europe, China, Thailand and Japan, as well as, Alaska, Washington D.C., Disney World and a couple of cruises.
John was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic melanoma after a tumor was removed from his brain in December 2010. He was a brave and strong man, who remained positive in the face of the many treatments he endured until his passing on January 31, 2012.
He will always be remembered by his family and friends as loving, positive, adventurous, personable, kind-hearted, forgiving, compassionate, patient, strong, un-complaining, hard-working and a family man. His wife called him her”Energizer bunny.” He was always on the go.
