
Lawrence "Larry" Martinez, 83 years old, entered into rest on June 5, 2016, at his home in Colton with his family by his side. Larry was born October 22, 1932 in Belltown, California to Sylvano and Margarita Martinez.
In January 1953, at the age of 20, Larry was drafted by the US Army and served in Korea until November, 1954. He was honorably discharged in January, 1961. Larry worked for Kaiser Steel in the blast furnace department for 28 years. After his retirement, he enjoyed landscaping for several households in his community. Larry loved the outdoors, mainly fishing and hunting. Hesperia Lake was his favorite fishing hole, but he frequented several lakes in Southern California, often with his wife and grandson.
Larry is survived by his wife Vera, to whom he was faithfully married for 60 years; and his son Maurice (Pat) Martinez; three grandchildren, Adrienne, Eric and Celina; his sisters, Mary (Jess) Aguilar and Sara Sandoval, brother Phillip (Bonnie) Martinez; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Erica and his son, Michael.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 E. Washington St., Colton, California.
Larry will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
