It is with deep sorrow that we announce Maria Maldonado, 62, of Highland, CA transitioned out of this life on January 27, 2026 after a courageous battle with pancreatic and ovarian cancer. Her passing was peaceful, surrounded in her final moments by her children, grandchildren and niece.
Maria was born on August 13, 1963 in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. Along with her mother and siblings, she migrated to Corona, CA in 1977. She grew up loving the beach, dancing, oldies, weekend getaways, hanging out with friends and was known affectionately as “La Flaca”. She moved throughout the Los Angeles and Inland Empire areas, before finally settling and starting her family in Highland.
A prior two time cancer survivor, beating thyroid cancer in 1984 and breast cancer in 2009, she was the epitome of strength and resilience and the true definition of a fighter.
She was a devoted and cherished mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, home improvement projects, was a DIY queen and was known for her costume making skills.
She had a calm and quiet nature. She will be remembered for her kindness and willingness to always lend a helping hand, and for her mouth watering home cooked meals.
Maria is survived by her children Angie, Jose Sr. (wife Denise), Jessica and Jessenia. Her grandchildren Jose Jr. (Baby Jose) Julian (JuJu) and Jiovanni (Bonni). Her mother Maria Enriquez, sisters Marcela (Frank, Roger, Martha, Eric), Tula, Juana (Jorge, Adrian, Diego), Blanca and brothers Pule, Manuel, Lalo, Elias and Junior.
Maria also leaves behind countless relatives, friends and a community that will mourn the loss of an incredible woman who lived her life with selflessness and humbleness, always giving to others and never asking for or expecting anything in return.
