Martha Watson, born on September 27, 1949, to Redmon and Willie Mae Buggs in Benton
County, Mississippi, she was one of many children in her family.
At a young age, she relocated to California, where she crossed paths with Mrs. Della, a devoted
Jehovah's Witness. Intrigued by the teachings of the Bible, Martha embarked on a journey of
discovering our Creator. She found great joy in learning that God has a name and that he loves
and cares for each one of us. Through her study of Bible truths, God's laws, purpose, and future
promises, she wholeheartedly dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized in 1972.
Martha truly loved Jehovah and cherished the desire to be His friend forever.
At the age of 17, Martha met the love of her life, Willie Fred Watson, with whom she shared 52
beautiful years of marriage. They were not only devoted partners but also the best of friends,
who loved each other dearly. Martha was a remarkable wife and mother, who lovingly raised
their four children. She was an amazing cook and always made sure her family enjoyed
delicious home-cooked meals. With a compassionate heart she dedicated many years of her life
to the nursing field, ultimately retiring from the Veterans Hospital.
Martha found delight in engaging in conversations about Jehovah, listening to music, dancing,
reading, and uplifting others. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and watching old
westerns. She was a pillar of support to anyone in need. Moments spent with her family and
friends were what she cherished most. She will be missed for her Sunday meals, prepared with
love - her signature fried chicken, yams, savory greens, and dressing. Above all, she will be
greatly missed for her beautiful smile, big heart, and radiating presence.
Martha was preceded in death by her children, Sidney Akins and William Watson, as well as her
beloved grandchildren, Ky Alicia Thomas and Marquese Woody, and siblings, Betty Jean
Poplar, Timothy Buggs, and Sharon Buggs.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Willie Fred Watson, her children Trina and
Anthony Watson, and daughter-in-laws, Erica Watson and Minasha Wilson. She also leaves
behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Katina Hope, Chauntia Watson, Ashlee
