Familia Gomez, lamento la pérdida del señor miguel.  se que el dolor de que están pasando es duro, por eso quiero compartir con ustedes la esperanza que da a la Biblia.  Apocalíptico 21:4.

As his only daughter, I was his little shadow and went everywhere with him- even to the dump!My daughter, Kelli, later also would accompany him on what became a funny tradition. My dad taught me how to fast pitch softball and was at every one of my games. He was there for my home run and was the best fan anyone could want.His Christian faith underscored everything he did.Even his employer Ajit Shaw recognized his worth and said to me, "Miguel is a good man, a man of integrity. I second-guessed myself when I hired him as an older employee, but since the first day I've never looked back. He is the most valuable man I have on the crew." Every life he touched was the better for it-not many you can say that about. He was a faithful, loyal,loving, humorous, patient dad and husband. I thank the Lord always for giving me he best earthly father anyone could have been blessed by. Until I go to be with the Lord, I will miss him every second of the day.

From the memorial service.

Good evening, I am Michael Gomez, I am the son of Mike and Cynthia Gomez and Grandson of Mike and Ida Gomez. I've been asked to speak on behalf of my father. He wrote some feelings and thoughts that I'll share with you.

As a young man my heroes were Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays and Duke Snider.  I admired them, wanted to be them and yes there was hero worship there.  It wasn't until several years later when this all changed for me.  It wasn't until I realized what a real hero was and that there were examples right in front of me.  Men and women, who went to work daily, cared for and loved their families, and taught them right from wrong.  These heroes showed me how to love, not hate and to respect not scorn or ridicule.  They also taught me how to field a ground ball, as well as how to scramble an egg.  My heroes became my parents and all my aunts and uncles.  By their example, by how they went about their lives, I learned what a true hero is.  For many years now and till the day I see my father again I will try my best to live by the example he set.  I wish this not so much to be a eulogy but as a tribute to my father, my mother, all my aunts and uncles who have taught me how to live, laugh, cry, pray and yes how to die.  I only hope to have the courage and strength to follow in my father's footsteps.
  
These are my father's words. Well, Dad as I struggled with life and preparing for today your daughter in-law sent me a music video. The video quickly brought me back to center and helped provide the clarity I needed. The video was Josh Groban singing You Raise Me Up. In this song the chorus is:

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders'
You raise me up to more than I can be.

My Grandfather raised my father to stand on mountains; to walk on stormy seas; to be strong; and to be more than he could be. Grandpa is at rest knowing this, you can rest knowing he's in heaven, successful in raising a son, a man, a father and grandfather.
 
And now I will read on behalf of my Uncle Ric.

My Dad was a good man. My Dad was loved and respected by many.
 
My Dad was a doer. It was important to him to make an effort. I look back on the many things he did with awe.
 
He was not a mechanic but he repaired and maintained the cars he owned to keep us safe on the road.
 
He was not a mason but he built the concrete block wall that surrounds the house and home he provided for us.
 
He was not a carpenter but he replaced all the windows of his home.
 
Sure, much of the motivation was to save money but he did it because he tried. He tried and he succeeded.
 
He taught me to just make an effort. There are three things that came easy for my Dad. These were love for family, love for his church and love for God. For these, it was no effort at all.

I love you Dad and I miss you.

My Grandpa Mike is gone, he passed away and our family is heart broken... A great man from the greatest generation. My Grandma's best friend & soul mate. The first Gomez to be born here in this country, the one who would set the standard for hard work, honor, respectability, and devotion to family for every generation that leads down to my cousins' kids, my niece & my own kids. He always talked to me about the importance of education and the disappointment in himself that he didn't graduate high school on time but I always thought it was inspiring that he still finished as an adult. He made me laugh, he's the reason we camp in the summer and he loved to sit and watch his greatgrand kids grow... To know he's at rest brings comfort, to move forward without him is heart breaking, we love you - your grandson Marcos
