

Nora Madalyn Chastain England was born on October 18, 1936 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Thomas James Chastain of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Dorothy Lillie Jane Baskins of Braggs, Oklahoma. The family moved to San Bernardino, California in the early 1940’s. Nora married Fred England on July 4, 1953.
She passed into eternity on September 6, 2025 in Highland, California surrounded by loved ones.
Nora was a member of Bible Presbyterian Church and served as the church secretary, volunteered as room mother, PTA board member, Brownie/Girl Scout leader, Rainbow Girls’s charity functions, and was an enthusiastic member of the Red Hat Society. She was a homemaker/stay-at-home mother for many years before working at Hickory Farms, J&M Sales, LAAGCO, and Linzer Product Corporation as Office Manager.
She was passionate about sewing, painting, scrapbooking, collecting, travel, country music, Elvis, chickens, Gone With the Wind, Nicolas Sparks novels, and going out to lunch with friends. She loved celebrating and decorating for every holiday. Nora was a citizen of the Tahlequah Cherokee Nation. She will be remembered as a vivacious, organized, creative, generous and loving woman.
Nora is survived by Fred England, her husband of 72 years, her sister Nancy Ely, and daughters and sons-in-law Janet England Frost (Richard Frost) and Dona Carroll (Larry Carroll). She was a loving grandmother of two grandchildren, Lindsay Steele, and Taylor Carroll, and two grand dogs, Simeon and Zoe. Nora has four great-grandchildren, Liam Carroll, Jace Steele, Hudson Carroll, and Skylie Steele.
The funeral service will be held on September 19, 2025 at 11:00 am at Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary in the Cypress Chapel.
