

Patria Garing Abeleda, 88, of Loma Linda, California, passed away on April 13, 2016 at Loma Linda University Medical Center of complications from Parkinson’s Disease. Her body lies in state at the Montecito Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3520 E. Washington St Colton, CA 92354. Visitations are scheduled for Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 4:00pm-8:00pm and, Sunday, April 24, 2016 at 11:30am-2:30pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016, at 10:00am at St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, 10816 Mountain Ave Loma Linda, California 92354. Interment will follow at 12:00pm. Pat was born in the Philippines on May 11, 1927. Pat was single, never married, had no children. Predeceased Family: Father- Vicente Abeleda, Sr. Mother-Natalia Garing, 4 brothers: Romeo G. Abeleda, Nestor G. Abeleda, Eduardo G. Abeleda and Vicente G. Abeleda. She is survived by her 101 year old loving sister, Corazon A. Cabacungan, 3 sisters-in-law, Astride P. Abeleda, Adelina M. Abeleda and Cristina Z. Abeleda, 11 nieces, 6 nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pat graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1948 with a degree in BS Nursing, immigrated to the United States in 1950, lived in Chicago, Illinois for 27 years before moving to Loma Linda, California in 1977. Pat retired from her career in nursing at the VA Hospital in 1990 and had the opportunity to spend her days doing what she wanted like traveling, gardening and other interesting hobbies. She made every holiday special for her friends and family. She was very generous with her time as well as with her possessions. Her greatest passion was for her family and closest friends. A devout Catholic, Pat was an active parishioner and supporter of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
Pat may have departed this life but her legacy lives on in the lives of many.
