Patsy Delois Irby was a modest woman, quiet and observant in her ways. She was trustworthy and traditional in her approach to her life and in her relationships. She was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew her. She was also a woman who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything she undertook. Realistic about life, she was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
Her parents were Willie and Margarete Brown. She was brought up to be self-confident and dependable. These were traits that would serve her well throughout her life.
Growing up in the Irby household was a bit different than most homes. There were good times to be had and there was a fair share of challenges as well. She raised seven children by herself. Sometimes she had to be Dad, but most times she was Mom. She taught us to be loving towards each other and in differences she always made us hug each other and say "I love you" which we still do to this day. She had four younger brothers, Raymond, Willie, David, Kenneth, and two younger sisters, Darlene and Sheila.
She wasn’t pushy and never forced her way into games or other activities. She was always curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it in her own way. In her spare time she liked reading books.
She was committed to her friends and valued the trust she placed in them. Later in life, she became friends with the whole World. She wanted EVERYONE to be saved!
She was a GREAT parent to all her children, always firm yet fair in her dealings. She would always listen carefully and think things through before she acted, even when it was an adverse situation. She was also blessed with twelve grandchildren, Lisa, Michael, Sucheata, Chantavi, Mala, DeAndre, Joshua, Caleb, Nitaya, Anthony, Ana, and Jordan.
She was a hard worker who expected the same in return from her co-workers. She was skilled at working effectively in small groups and in one-on-one situations as well as handling solo assignments efficiently. She was an efficient worker, one who paid careful attention to detail, allowing sufficient time to complete one task before moving on to the next. Her primary occupation was Administration. She was employed for 10 years by San Bernardino Valley College.
She was very methodical in how she organized her activities and categorized things. Her favorite pursuits were creating PowerPoint media for the World to know how to be saved at apostolictruth7 on YouTube.
She would watch her favorite singing competition and sporting events whenever she got the opportunity. Tops on her list were The Voice on TV and baseball because it reminded her of childhood memories with her grandfather whom had baseball on the radio and TV at the same time.
She was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church for 49 years where she last attended at NBCC under her son Cornell Ivey as her Pastor. During that time, she was a Sunday School teacher for many years and continued with providing office, media and bulletin support for all departments. She was a sympathetic woman who valued her beliefs and was willing to work tirelessly for them.
She enjoyed researching everything from medicines prescribed by doctor's, to food articles about health and especially anything relating to the Word of God. Her favorite vacations included Live Theater at various places in-State or out-of-State. She loved scenic places.
She was happily retired for many years doing what she wanted when she wanted. Her new life involved in staying in California, where she last resided with her son Victor, to be with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
