April 5, 1952 - June 13, 2022
Rosella Venegas, 70, was born on April 5th, 1952 to Louis and Rachel Romo in Loma Linda, CA. The matriarch of her family, Baba passed away peacefully on Monday, June 13th, 2022 in Redlands, CA surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Baba, a lifelong resident of Colton, Ca began her journey to culinary legend in the community working alongside her parents at Dell's Drive In. As a teen, she learned how to serve all patrons she encountered. Baba proudly followed in her parents footsteps until her untimely retirement shortly after her mother's passing. She treated every customer like family and always made it a point to take care of local teachers by ensuring they had lunch on request before opening hours.
Baba, a staple of the community, continued serving the city of Colton long after she retired from Dell's by volunteering for Relay for Life events, San Salvador's Church Fiestas and providing "Taco Tuesday's and Thursday's" for various venues, including The Knights of Columbus in Colton and San Bernardino as well as American Legion Post 155. In her free time, she also successfully owned a catering business which employed her children, grandchildren, friends and family. Baba became "mom" and "grandma" to many as she was involved in all her children's and grandchildren's every endeavor. Over the decades she proudly supported every team possible whether it was the high school marching band in Hawaii, football, softball, basketball, track or color guard.
Baba's legacy was mostly fulfilled by displaying her love by crafting her signature culinary masterpieces at family gatherings such as Easter and 4th of July BBQ's, She lived for and loved preparing her Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with all the trimmings. Her joy was seeing everyone with their hearts and stomachs full.
Together with her husband at her side, Baba enjoyed traveling, camping and attending concerts. Baba and Andy along with their family in hand embarked on cruise ship destinations from Disney World, The Caribbean Islands to the Mexican Riviera. Baba found the most peace in boating with Andy and family for the past 46 years in Lake Havasu, AZ., and the wind in her hair, a cold drink in her hand and the Beach Boys music in the background. Baba loved dancing with her husband and now has finally reunited with her soulmate once again for all eternity.
Baba's love for serving everyone her delicious food made her extremely happy. She was loved by all she served and she loved them all just as much. Our entire family cannot thank you enough for the love you showed her as a customer or a friend at any point during her 40 year career and 70 years of her generous life. Our family would like you to know your meals were prepared and served with the same pride and as much love as she poured into our family's meals.
