

He was preceded in death by his parents Ladislao “Luis” and Aurora Avila and his siblings Raul (Luly) Avila and Alva Avila.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth (Licha) and his two children Robin Avila and Rene (Monica) Avila. His Brother Omar (Maria) and sisters Lorraine Barros, Amanda Ferretti. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Ruben, Jason, Ray, Jacob, Rene, Jr, Christina, Amina, Dede, and Janeen; his 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Ruben was raised in Colton, CA where he worked as a painter for the SB City Schools, Norton Air Force Base and the VA Hospital. He retired after 25 years. He enjoyed painting custom cars at home. He was the owner of the “Bolero” bar in Colton; as well as, the “El Adobe” Mexican restaurant in Loma Linda. He was skilled in and played many sports as a young man. You could find him enjoying “Sinatra” and Big Band era music on many mid-mornings and Saturday afternoons. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Mass will be held @ Immaculate Conception Church, Colton, CA @ 10:00 am.
