Sasongko Budi Prakoso was born in Jakarta, Indonesia on June 2, 1960 to Mulyono Yudosumarto and Hartini Wiryodarmojo. He was the eldest of four children. His siblings include brother, Nanang Susatio, and sisters Rina Andriani and Penny Andayani. Sas graduated high school SMA Pangudi Luhur, Kebayoran Baru in Jakarta, Indonesia.
In 1980, Sas came to the United States and attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN where he majored in Business Administration. In 1985, Sas returned to Indonesia to see his family again. After six months there, he decided to return to the United States. Before leaving, he left each of his siblings a letter of love and encouragement.
Sas spent his post-collegiate life in California. He had many talents which included building car engines and racing, and building computers for himself and friends. He had a passion for mountain biking, building sound systems for music enjoyment, reading, discussing current events and photography. Sas worked for many courier companies. He was also a truck driver for C.R. England, USPS and Fed Ex.
Growing up, Sas’ parents raised him in a Muslim household. Sas visited many churches when he was in America. He decided to dedicate his life to Jesus and in 1995, Sas was baptized into the Protestant faith by his pastor, Stefanus Surjadjaja. Many of his friends attended church that day to witness this pivotal event in his life.
Sadly, Sas passed away on May 5, 2020 after suffering a heart attack while he was mountain biking. He is survived by his sisters, Rina and Penny. Please continue to remember them in prayer at this time. Sas left behind the precious gift of true friendship. We thank God for this blessing. As believers in the resurrection, we remain anchored in the hope that we will be reunited with our Risen Savior face to face.
