Daniel Marvin Tack passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2024 at the age of 19. Dan will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving, humble young man with a servant's heart who loved his family and his savior Jesus Christ. He was active in the Christian Service Brigade and church youth and young adult ministries as well as Elev8 basketball, where he volunteered his time to coach multiple youth teams. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his friends, ministry colleagues, and surviving family which includes his mother, Heather, siblings Naomi, Abigail (Jake) Lisenbee, Edward, Julia, Lily, Elaine, and Samson, and grandparents Elaine Tack and Dan and Marlene Fortney. Some words from Dan's family:
"Dan, son, brother, friend, cousin, nephew, grandson, even father figure. We miss you so much.
You are such a big presence, your personality fills a room. You are an amazing conversationalist, when you start a real conversation you listen, you ask good questions, you are really in that conversation. You are so generous, with your time, your money, your skills, your strength, your energy, your friendship. You always look for ways to serve your mom, to care for your little brother, to support your friends and coworkers. You are so good at comforting, those strong arms made us feel safe and you were often the first to go to someone who was struggling. Oh, and you have Dave's sense for good food (philly tacos, towering breakfast sandwiches, etc.). When you finished making breakfast for everyone you'd devise the most amazing meal for yourself.
And Dan, you love the Lord. You loved the spiritual conversations. You spent your time and money bringing others to God. You struggled, and we won't know how deep those struggles were. But Jesus knew. Now you are wrapped in the arms of your Father and someday we'll join you, where those struggles are gone and our tears are wiped away."
There will be a memorial service for Dan on Saturday, December 28th at 2 pm at Columbia Presbyterian Church, 10001 MD-108, Columbia, MD 21044. All are welcome in person or via livestream. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, you consider making a donation to Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center in Columbia.
