

On October 26, 2011, Elizabeth G. Dougherty, of Columbia, MD, passed away peacefully after a brief illness. Born on June 24, 1921 in Norfolk, VA, she graduated in 1940 from Washington Seminary, finishing school, in Atlanta, GA. Married on June 19, 1944, in Marblehead, MA, to Theodore Dougherty, who preceded her in death in June 1978. She is survived by two sisters, Suzanne G. Miller of Atlanta, GA, Nancy G. Scott of Raleigh, NC and brother, Frank C. Gill of Greenville, NC and preceded in death by brother, Dean W. Patty formerly of Atlanta, GA and sister, Helen Gill of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her children, Theodore Michael Dougherty and his wife Madonna, Kathleen Dougherty-Smith and her husband Heard, Patrick Ames Dougherty, and his wife Diane, and Timothy Furman Dougherty. She had nine grandchildren; Sean, Bryan, Cara, Ashley, Brianna, Tom, Emma, Keanon, and Liam, one great-granddaughter, Natasha, and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great nieces.
Services will be Monday, October 31, 2011 at Christ Episcopal Church, “old brick church”, 6800 Oakland Mills Rd., Columbia, MD 21045, starting with visitation from 12pm to 1:30pm, service at 2pm, and graveside at 3pm.
