Howard was born on September 22, 1935 in his parents’ home in Highlandtown, Baltimore. He was a devout Catholic from a young age, attending St Bridgid’s elementary school and later Calvert Hall College. He enlisted in the Air Force and served proudly in the Air National Guard for 9 years.
In 1964, he married his beloved wife, Hazel. They moved to Columbia MD in 1970 where he was an active member of St John’s Catholic Church. They were proud to be the parents of two girls, Judi and Katie. His studies in computer programming led him to his career as a systems analyst at the Baltimore Spice Company (home of the Original Old Bay). After retiring, Howard remained active as the family caretaker, handling any project from lawns to cars to caring for his own aging parents.
Howard took immense pride in his daughters, as well as his grandkids. His family was always his greatest joy. He loved anything Baltimore Os, Colts, and Ravens. He loved hot summer days, steamed crabs, and a cold beer. He could talk to anyone, anytime, about anything, and people loved that about him. You knew he would always have you laughing.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel; his daughters Judi (husband Brent), Katie (husband Chris), his brother Babes, and all of his grandkids, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St John’s the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Wilde Lake Interfaith center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road, Columbia MD 21044 on Friday April 10, 2026 at noon.
