
On April 24, 2011, LYDIA MARIE GUILLOTE PARLETT, 96, a retired registered nurse, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died at the Augsburg Nursing Home in Baltimore. She was a long time Lochern, Maryland resident. Lydia was born in Scott, Louisiana, and grew up in Port Neches, Texas. She graduated from John Sealy College of Nursing at the University of Texas, Galveston. She did post graduate work at New York Hospital and the University of Colorado in Denver. She met her husband, Luther Offutt Parlett, at a USO dance in Denver during World War II. They were married in Baltimore in March1945. She worked from 1947 - 1954 as a private duty nurse at Seton Institute, Baltimore, and for many years at Sinai Hospital. She retired at 64 in 1979. Her husband died in 1999. Some of her favorite things were making picnics for her grandchildren, walking, gardening, reading historic fiction and mysteries, and yoga. She is survived by her children, Barbara Parlett de Beaufort Deal, Parker Deal) Reston, VA, John Parlett, (Alisha) Cuenca, Equador, Sandy Parlett (Daniel Phillips) Ellicott City, MD; her grandchildren, Nicole de Beaufort, Jacques de Beaufort, Cara Parlett Shaefer, Ian Parlett Schafer, James Phillips (Elizabeth) Amy Phillips, David Phillips (Julie); great grandchildren, Joey, Jack, Will, Sammy, and Lia Phillips; and her brother E.J. Guillote of Amarillo, Texas.
Friends may call at the Witzke Funeral Homes, Inc., in Colunbia, Maryland, at 5555 Twin Knolls Road, on Wednesday, April 27 fro 12-2 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will bw held at the Augsburg Lutheran Village Chapel at 6811 Campfield Road on Thursday, April 28 at 10:00 AM, and interment at the Druid Ridge Cemetery.
