Ruth Eunice Milton

It is with sorrow and joy that we announce the home call of our dear sister, Ruth Eunice (née Herman) Milton, who has gone to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ruth was born May 7, 1939 to John Herman and Marie Borleis in Baltimore, Maryland. She trained as a nurse and cared for the sick and injured for many years in the Emergency Room at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore.

Ruth married James Milton on October 9, 1964. They lived for over four decades in Laurel, Maryland, where they raised their three children, Leslie, Linda, and Kevin. She was a faithful and caring wife, nursing Jim through lymphoma when their children were still young. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren, who benefited from her loving kindness and her generous nature.

Ruth loved the Lord and faithfully attended Foster Avenue Gospel Hall, later Central Maryland Christian Fellowship, her entire life. She also demonstrated her love for the Lord’s people through her hospitality—many have fond memories of staying with Ruth and Jim over the years.

She is survived by her husband, James H. Milton; her children Leslie (Paul) Denton, Linda (Jonathan) Pickering, and Kevin (Traci) Milton; her eight grandchildren, Ryan Horodyski, Ashley Horodyski, Colin Pickering, Sean (Madeline) Pickering, Mark Pickering, Tyler Horodyski, Connor Milton, and Logan Milton; and her sister, Lois Suess.

A visitation for Ruth will be held Friday, December 23, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Witzke Funeral Home, 5555 Twin Knolls Road, Columbia, MD 21045, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM and a committal service at Meadowridge Memorial Park. See below for additional details.
