

Bobbie Faye Owen of Columbia, Missouri was born July 21, 1935 to Timothy Wesley Farris and Cleader Virginia Farris. She graduated from Junction City High School in Junction City, Arkansas and went on to Nursing school in Camden. After marrying Samuel Givens Owen and having Samuel J. and Christine E., they moved to Kansas City and eventually Lee’s Summit. She became an R.N. and worked in the Veterans’ Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for 25 years, plus 5 at MU Health Center and finally retired from the Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She started and was the head nurse of the SICU, and created the Crash Cart for the Veterans’ Hospital and was awarded an Honorary BSN from the Veterans Administration for her work in the field of nursing. Survivors include son, Samuel Owen (Tetiana) of Vushenki Village, Ukraine, daughter Christine (Kent) Babel of Columbia, Missouri. Grandchildren: Eric Owen, Evan Babel and Samuel Babel. Great-Grandchildren: Khloee and Kian Owen. Survivors also include one twin brother Ray Farris of Soddy Daisy, TN, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Roy Farris and T.W. Farris; and sisters Ferne Farris, Ruth Salotti, Nan Foyil, Joan Thomas and Sara Jane Farris Herring . Bobbie passed peacefully at Boone Hospital Center on August 25 with family and a friend.
