

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Roy Willard, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated educator. Born in Fort Collins, Colorado in 1941, Charles met the love of his life, Ann Willard, in 1957, and they were together until his passing on October 15, 2024.
Charles valued education deeply, completing his Doctorate at the University of Missouri. His passion for learning fueled his career, where he enriched the experience of his students and colleagues. His journey in education began in 1964 with Columbia Public Schools when he taught German and History at Jefferson Junior High. He later served as the assistant principal at Rock Bridge High School before returning to Jefferson Junior High as principal, a role he held until his retirement in 1998. He dedicated his life to nurturing the minds of countless individuals, with the hope of instilling in them a love for learning.
He often remarked that he experienced a whole second life after retirement, allowing him to be a daily presence in the lives of his grandchildren, of whom he was immensely proud.Haley had a special gift for making him laugh with her stories about daily life, He admired Derick's dedication to education and loved their thoughtful discussions, while Eli became his golfing buddy from the time he could walk. One of Charles's great joys was following Eli's hockey journey, cheering him on every step of the way.
Charles had a passion for writing and crafted countless short stories for his grandchildren, sharing his imagination and love of storytelling. He also authored several books, leaving behind a rich legacy of words that his family will treasure.
Charles loved to golf and was an avid fan of the Missouri Tigers and the St. Louis Cardinals. He cherished spending time with friends and fellow retirees, enjoying an active social life that brought him joy. Always eager to embrace the latest technology and gadgets, he was often the first in the family to learn and share. Charles was a natural leader, guiding others with confidence in every situation.
His support and guidance profoundly shaped his family, who valued his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering presence. He leaves behind a legacy of love, knowledge, and inspiration that will forever be in our hearts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ann; his daughters, Laura Bosley and her husband, Marty, and Rebecca Fritz and her husband, Lance; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Haley Morris, Derick Roy, and Eli Fritz.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Columbia Country Club, 2210 Country Club Dr., Columbia, MO on Monday, November 4th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.
