Darlene Esther Edwards

Darlene Esther Edwards, 85, passed away on August 25, 2023 in Columbia, Missouri. Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, August 31 at 10:00 AM, followed immediately by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

A native of Hermann, she was born October 24, 1937 to Richard and Lorene (Biermann) Grannemann. She went to Ledo’s School of Hairstyling to become a licensed cosmetologist.

She began her 27-year career with USDA in 1974, retiring as a personnel management specialist, a job she enjoyed. She maintained close ties with her USDA co-workers and formed a breakfast group called “The Old Farts Club” for retirees to socialize.

She was united in marriage to Moss Edwards on June 7, 1975. They had many happy years together until he preceded her in death on March 7, 2009.

Darlene is survived by her three children: Charles “Chuck” Brown of Columbia, Missouri; Eric Brown of Blue Springs, Missouri; Sheila (Alan) Owens of Columbia, Missouri; and as well as a brother: Calvin Grannemann of Herman, Missouri; and one sister: Katherine Felger of Omaha, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister: Eylane Thompson.
