

Don L. Landers, CPA, 76, passed away Monday Dec 1 at home. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 10:00 am at Memorial Funeral Home. Don was born Oct 15, 1938 to Eunice and Paul Landers in Appleton City MO. He married Betty J Laubenstein June 7, 1957 and she survives. Don graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting in1960. He received his certified public account (CPA) certificate in 1964. After working as a staff accountant for Williams-Keepers and as the business manager of Christian College he became founder in the accounting firm Landers and Owsley CPA. In September 1975 he became founder and managing partner in the accounting firm Don L Landers and Co. CPAs in which he was active until his death. He co-founded Pet Healthcare International in 1995. Don was socially and civically active in many local organizations, among them the MO Heart Institute, Memorial Weekend Salute to Veterans, University of Missouri School of Health Professions, MU Quarterback Club, and was a Trustee Emeritus of the Columbia College. He was a member of the Army Reserves. Don is survived by his wife, Betty Landers; daughter, Cheri Landers, MD (Jim Clemons); grandson, Daniel Clemons of Lexington KY; daughter, Vicki Landers of Kansas City, MO; brother and sister in law, Dale and Kathryn Landers of Columbia, MO; and sister in law, Rita Landers in Pratt, KS. Don was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Landers. Don enjoyed attending MU sporting events, both home and away. He was the antithesis of the stereotype of the boring accountant. He also enjoyed golfing, Arrow Rock Lyceum Theater, University of Missouri Concert Series and fishing with his grandson. He enjoyed traveling extensively, including three trips around the world. He is a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
