Elba was born on February 2, 1929, in Fredericktown, Missouri, to John G. Walker and Zoah (Whitchurch) Walker. On November 8, 1946, in Fredericktown, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” Lloyd Womack, Sr. and to this union three sons were born, William L., Jr. , John R., and Timothy D. Together they began a life of faith, family, and service that would take them far from home.
When Bill answered the call to missionary work in the Caribbean, Elba faithfully supported the ministry and devoted herself to raising their family. The couple made their home in Bermuda, where their sons grew up enjoying island life and where their youngest son, Tim, was born. Through every move and challenge, Elba remained the steady heart of the family, creating a warm and loving home wherever they lived.
Elba dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a loving and devoted mother whose greatest joy was raising her boys and watching her family grow. Her kindness, strength, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was also a faithful member of Parkade Baptist Church for many years. Though declining health kept her from attending in her later years, her faith remained strong and an important part of her life.
Elba had a special gift for art and was known locally as a talented painter. Her creativity and love for beauty were reflected in her artwork, which brought joy to family and friends alike.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons, William L. Womack, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Woolridge, Missouri, and Timothy D. Womack and his wife Tangie of Richmond, Virginia. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Ayron Hyams, Zachary Womack, Nacole Womack, Luke Womack, Daniel Womack, Seth Womack, Natalie Wier, and Michael Womack; and nine great-grandchildren: Drew Hyams, Mallory Hyams, Joshua Womack, Jacob Womack, Cooper Womack, Wesley Womack, Luke Wier, Addison Wier, and Ember Womack. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, William Lloyd Womack, Sr.; her son, John Robert Womack; and her sisters, Audria Kinder and Blanche Combs.
Elba’s life was a beautiful example of devotion to her faith, her family, and the calling placed on her family’s life. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, loving heart, and the warmth she brought to those around her.
Graveside services honoring and celebrating Elba’s life will be held later this summer.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
