Ernest "Ernie" Carthron, 59, of Columbia traded his boxing gloves in for a custom set of wings as he made his transformation from temporary struggles over to eternal life. A Memorial Service celebrating Ernie’s life will be held, Friday, October 9, 2015 at 6 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home.
Ernie made his debut into this world October 6,1955. He joined his parents Isaiah & Mozella Carthron along with six siblings in a small town in Tennessee. Ernie channeled his love for cars while working as a car detailer at Joe Machens Ford for 20 plus years. He loved to work with his hands and continued to do so in the field of Construction & Landscaping up until he discovered a fondness for writing. His love for writing led him to create an awesome manuscript that will make you think differently about the man of few words that many of us thought we knew! He acquired his daughter through marriage who he often referred to as "his shadow" even up until his final breath.
Those he leaves behind to delight in his memories are his daughter Giselle (Kelley) Ballenger; five grandsons, Jarrell Harris, DreVon, Kelyn, Kendrik, and Jaidyn Ballenger; a great granddaughter, Jantel Harris; four siblings, Isaiah Carthron, Earnestine (Jerry) Lusby, Mozella Carthron, all of which reside in Columbia, Mo and Lora Carthron of Syracuse, NY; Along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends. Ernie was reunited in death with his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
He is now getting jiggy with the Angels!
