Rick grew up in Centralia, Missouri, where he attended Centralia Schools and graduated from Centralia High School in 1965. Following graduation, Rick proudly enlisted in the United States Army. His service took him around the world, and during his time stationed in Germany, he played on the Army football team, an experience he cherished.
After receiving his honorable discharge, Rick attended Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, where he continued his love for football by playing on the college team. He was also an active member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
While at Missouri State, Rick met the love of his life, Patricia “Pat” Kinsey. The two were married on April 2, 1972, in Republic, Missouri, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. To this union, two children were born, Meredith and Patrick.
Rick’s long and successful career as a Marketing Director for Canon led him and his family on countless adventures across the South and to Washington, D.C. His job allowed him to explore new places and connect with people everywhere he went, something he truly loved.
Rick served as former President of the Board of the 1033 Benevolent Fund, an organization supporting the families of first responders and MoDOT employees, a cause that was close to his heart. The fund was established in memory of his grandfather, former Sheriff Roger I. Wilson.
An avid and enthusiastic golfer, he could often be found on the green any day the weather would allow, enjoying both the game and the company of friends.
Rick is survived by his devoted wife, Pat Wilson of Columbia, MO; his daughter, Meredith Long (Josh) of Springfield, MO; his beloved grandson, Jack Nevins of Springfield, MO; his brother, Greg Wilson (Susan) of Independence, MO; and his nephew, Luke Wilson (Daisy) of Olathe, KS.
