

Gregory D. Anderson died at the age of 29 and joined his grandfather and grandmother in Heaven on December 26, 2014. He was hit by a car and killed instantly on Highway 63 at the 763 intersection. Greg was born on October 28th, 1985 in Columbia, MO. He graduated UMC in May of 2008 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He then accepted a position at Central Electric Power Cooperative in Jefferson City as an electrical engineer. He loved his job and worked hard to become a skilled and dedicated employee. His job was very important to him and he was proud of his accomplishments. Some of his awards and achievements include 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in VICA district electronics contest, Academic Achievement Award in high school, President’s Award for educational excellence, part of the gifted program, “A” honor roll through high school, and won the Outstanding Scholarship Award. He attended the Columbia Area Career Center which helped him learn electronics and helped him pursue his goal of becoming an electrical engineer. He once stated “Electronics is something I like to do. I like the challenge. I like the problem solving, and I like the people. Electronics for me was an escape into another world of mystery and problems to solve.” Greg was humorous, witty, intelligent, compassionate, creative, caring and loved his family and life. His family was very important to him growing up and supported Greg in all his endeavors. He enjoyed sports and playing football in high school. He was a member of Woodcrest church in Columbia and loved God. He enjoyed hunting, fishing with his grandfather, and being outdoors. Greg is survived by his mother and father: Mike and Cheryl Anderson; two brothers Chris Anderson age 32; and Ian Anderson age 21; sister-in-law Aundrea Anderson age 32; grandmother Cleo Anderson; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. The service will be held at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West, Columbia, MO on Saturday January 3rd. Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia followed by a short service at 3:00 p.m. There will be an open invitation for those wishing to say a few words about what knowing Greg has meant to them, as he has touched many lives the past 29 years.
