“Junebug” was born April 1, 1957, in Greenville County, South Carolina to James Lester and Sarah Lee Hancox. He grew up with such determination to build the life he envisioned. He brought so much laughter to any room he entered and every relationship he built. He was adventurous and lived his life by the seat of his britches in his early days.
In June 1982, he married Diane Reeter; their marriage lasted three years. Together they brought two children into this world that he cherished and loved with all his heart. Amanda and Amber created so many wonderful memories with their “Papa Bear.” Henry had the gift of turning any challenging situation into a moment of light-hearted laughter and internal peace. Being around him just put you in a laid back much better mood, no matter what we had going on around us.
Henry had a very hard and challenging journey. He went through so many obstacles but never wanted to show his pain and struggles or to impose on anyone else’s life around him. I know he loved his kids and grandkids so fiercely and would go to the ends of the earth to protect us all. Even though he did not crave the spotlight, he brought so much light to everyone he came in contact with. He had the privilege of donating his organs to many people in need and he would be proud to know how many lives he was able to touch. He raised his grandson Hayden the last few years of his life, Always being that kind and gentle soul Hayden could always rely on. He made a big impact on many people's lives.
He worked for several years in Taxi services; driving for A1 Taxi and All Points Taxi. He was also a self-contracted for lab courier services. He enjoyed classic cars and motorcycles; his ’57 Chevrolet was his pride and joy. Opening his first taxi service made him very happy and I was so proud of him. He loved helping others, driving his regulars and getting to know his customers. He was a great leader, friendly, and talkative. Always knew exactly how to be a schemester, states his older brother Tony. He was a big ole teddy bear to his kids and will forever be remembered
Henry is survived by his two Daughters, Amber Hancox of Jefferson City and Mandy Hancox of Warrensburg; Sibilings, Tony (Jeanita) Harrison, Lynn (Steve) Kuntz, Terry (Paul Cook) Hancox; Grandchildren Hayden and Ava Simpson, Jordan Brenner, Trey Cox and Karson Rastkar; and a Great-Grandaughter Layliana Key.
