

James C. Losey, age 91, of Columbia, MO, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015 in Columbia. He was born on January 30, 1924 in West Liberty, MO, the son of Iva Mae (Pearson) and Hugh H. Losey. He married Chris Lee Campbell on May 3, 1947 in Kansas City, MO; they shared 68 years of marriage together.
During his life, James was involved in the Rotary Club, and was a Shriner and a Mason. James was on the ambulance board in Fayette. James, along with his wife, Chris, built the nursing home in Fayette. He was also the hospital administrator in Milan. James was a member of the Private Industry Council in Columbia. James and his family owned a large Angus farm in northeast Missouri for many years.
James served in the United States Army Air Force from 1942-1945. He was a Technical Sergeant with the 576th Bomb Squadron, 392nd Bomb Group, Eighth Air Force. James served with special services during his military career and was a prisoner of war in Germany for 13 months. He received the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and was awarded the Air Medal four times.
James was a dedicated husband and father to his family. His focus was always on paying it forward to his family and those around him. James was a true man of faith.
Survivors include his wife, Chris, of the home; daughters, Candace (Chris) Bothwell and Sandra (Scott) Blume; 8 grandchildren, Antonj Losey, Nicholas Grissom, Rachel Losey, Rebecca Nelson, Constance Losey, Eric Blume, Dirk Blume and Mikael Zacarias and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Carol Holmes, and 3 brothers, Donald, Gerald and Hugh Losey, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 22, 2105 at Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior, from 1:00-2:00, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Patriot Place, Columbia, MO.
