

Born on September 28, 1951, to Lester and Alvena (Hurt) Poe, she lived a life filled with love and joy.
A 1969 graduate of Hickman High School, Janet was known for her outgoing personality and her ability to speak her mind. She had an infectious spirit that lit up any room she entered and was always ready to offer support to her loved ones, especially her children. Janet’s unwavering dedication to her family and friends was one of the many ways she touched the hearts of those around her. Janet loved listening to live music, dancing, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She loved animals of all kinds and truly opened her heart to those she took into her home over the years.
She is survived by her son, Shilo Dorman; daughter, Karla Dorman; her beloved dog, Toots; brothers, Randy Poe and Kenny Poe; father, Lester Poe; her former husband, Charles Dorman; nieces, Jamie Poe and Kim Poe; three great nieces and one great nephew. She was preceded in death by her mother, Alvena Poe and a brother, Alan Poe.
A celebration of Janet's life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia. A one-hour visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed immediately by a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Janet's honor may be made to the family.
Janet’s legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will forever live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
