Janet was born on September 19, 1941 in High Hill, Missouri to the late Bob and Galena Miller. The family soon moved to Moberly, Missouri. After graduating high school, Janet attended the Jewish Hospital of Nursing in St. Louis. In 1966, Janet joined the United States Air Force where she saw active duty during the Vietnam War. Stationed in the Philippines, her nursing skills brought comfort to many. Retiring as a Major in 1986, Janet's love of service continued in the nursing field and through her work with Kiwanis.
To Janet's many friends, she will be remembered as a woman of great strength. Vietnam, cancer, knee replacements, and pulmonary fibrosis never stopped Janet from enjoying life, her friends, and her dogs. As her health battles increased, Janet found comfort in the company of her Visiting Angels caregivers, phone calls and visits from childhood friends, and the love of her canine companions.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Galena, and her big brother, Jerry. She is survived by two nephews, many cousins, and numerous friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m on Tuesday, December 16th, at the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, north of Moberly.
Contributions in Janet's memory may be made to American Legion Veterans and Childrens Foundation or Compassus/Columbia Hospice.
